Hello to all!

My name is Dewey Wethington, but I usually go by my middle name; Jackson. I am currently a second-semester freshman at UT whose Major is in Animation. I will admit that I have very little experience with animation. But, I did make a simple drawing that made it onto the tenth page of the "Teen Mosaic" art magazine in 2019, which I’m honestly very proud of. I was born on March 20th in 2003, and lived there until my mother and I moved down to St. Petersburg, Florida in 2011. Eight years later, my mother would bring home two cats: a gray one named ‘Silver’, and a white one with black spots named ‘Lucy’.

I like to play video games, play with the cats, and I love to write whatever story ideas that come to mind. I enjoy watching anime—particularly Dragon Ball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.—and I enjoy making drawings (every now and then) that are inspired by the shows that I like. As a matter of fact, my dream job is to become either an artist or a voice actor for the franchises that I’ve grown to love.

I want to contribute to what has inspired me to go to college and work my tail off. I want to work hard and have fun, and maybe I can even share my success with a *special someone* in the future. Hopefully, I can turn all of that daydreaming into reality.

Blog #7

This assignment was more difficult than the ones before, since I had to draw a full body. On top of that, I decided to put myself through the extra steps of adding details the muscles on the figure for ironic, comedic effect when he fails to lift the weight. What made it tougher was making the character turn and squat. Everything else, if I'm being honest, was a cake-walk. Overall, it wasn't that much fun, but I did have a good time drawing the expressions on this man.

Blog #6

 This has to be the longest, most grueling animation I have done yet. It was entertaining at first, planning how my character was going to tilt their head, but it slowly devolved into a painful process of editing frames, inserting in-betweens for extra fluidity, and keeping every square inch of my character's body in check to make sure nothing was out of order. Regardless, the end product is something that I am still very proud of.

Blog #8

This has to be the most awesome project I've worked on this semester. It was a bit troublesome figuring out who I wanted to take for a walk cycle, but when the idea of a flamingo finally came to me, it was all smooth sailing from there. I wasn't entirely familiar with how flamingos walked, so I had to look up some clips from nature documentaries to see how they walked. I tried replicating it the best I could, and I am very proud of this animation. It's probably even the best one I have!
